MY STORY

I wasn't always who I am now. I've transformed—deeply. And I believe you can too.

From where it began

I wasn't always who I am now. I've transformed—deeply. And I believe you can too.

I grew up in a quiet, pristine village—Githaiti in Kirinyaga, on the slopes of Mount Kenya. One of my parents could love you one moment and feel unsafe the next. That was my early education in emotional unpredictability. It's where I learned to wait for the other shoe to drop, and to read the emotional weather in every room I entered.

For most of my life, I was driven, ambitious, and outwardly accomplished. I built a career in supply chain management spanning multiple countries across the continent. On the outside, it appeared to be thriving, but deep inside, I had plateaued. Something felt askew. Without a doubt, I knew I was meant for more—but that "more" still felt out of reach. And underneath it all, there was a persistent longing for work that felt meaningful

At 40, I gave myself permission to begin again.
What started as a coaching conversation to "get unstuck in my career" became something far more profound: a return to myself.
It marked the beginning of my own unravelling.
Greater self-awareness gave way to deeper self-understanding, opening the door to more conscious leadership, more grounded parenting, and a more honest relationship with myself.

But the most profound shift was a nervous system reset – a felt sense of safety in my body—and trauma integration through compassionate inquiry. This is something we need to talk about more in corporate spaces.

Through my own struggles as a leader, I came to understand something simple yet fundamental: at the heart of who we are is a tension. Our nervous system’s primary role is to keep us safe and alive – not happy. And yet, our essence, who we are at the core, is to learn and grow, to move toward self-actualization. Holding that tension requires consciousness.

That unfolding journey became the foundation of Unravel Coaching.
Through this work, I came to understand how profoundly our early life experiences shape how we show up—in our relationships, in our leadership, and in our parenting (in many ways, the most challenging yet most overlooked and essential form of leadership).
I know this territory because I've lived every chapter of it.

And in that understanding, I also found something else: tribe.
Over the years in my coaching practice, I've noticed a pattern. Many people arrive here not because their lives aren't working—but because the way they've been living is no longer sustainable.
They are accomplished on the outside—leading teams, building organizations, earning recognition—yet feel disconnected from their true self and potential.
Beneath the surface, there is often a quieter struggle: constant self-management, second-guessing, overriding personal needs, and holding everything together.
I recognize myself in them. In helping them see how their current leadership patterns reflect a younger version of themselves, I find deeper meaning in my work."
